According to that Noble lost the ball twice in his own half. Nolan did not. Therefore Nolan is better? :)

The pair of them are the reason we let in the goal.

Both need sacking off. Not up to it.

Collins being told to leave the field cost us the header in the first place. Ginge would have had the beating of Gomis .

Both too slow and passenger like to have in a midfield together. Out of the 2 Noble all day, Nolan has been awful for too long now.

At leat Noblechas duels won, and attacking passes.
Nolan's stats are no it worthy a central midfielder.

Nobles passing was excellent.

His 30 yards pass back to Adrian was exceptional.

Davenport

Harsh to blame Noble, just complete bad luck. Would probably have been the same whoever was there.

The Swansea player had no problem standing on his post and clearing his line.

I hate all this statistical bollocks- let's leave all that to dreadfully dragging American sports and Cricket.

We have two solid central defenders and wing-backs who love to get forward and are very good at putting telling balls into the box. It's an attacking formation that will never be as watertight (or boring) as a flat back four.

Time and time again we see that it's not a defensive formation that can simply sit back and absorb pressure for 45 minutes while defending a slender lead.

Top teams don't sit back after going a goal up, they try and add to it.

Re: Noble vs Nolan (against Swansea)
The constant digging out of our own players is getting tiresome now.

If anyone should be getting dug out its Allardyce for continuing to pick players that some deem 'not good enough' and especially for being so negative.

Personally I think Noble has been a great servant to the club he clearly loves and is well worth a place in the squad if not the first team. Nolan is getting on a bit now but has been a good captain (mostly) and was pivotal in getting us back up into this league and deserves at least a little bit more respect than he gets on here. Blame the manager if you dont want to see them on the pitch, the players arent going to say no are they?

But neither Noble or Nolan were particularly bad yesterday were they? Kind of shits on your argument doesn't it?

I thought Nobes was excellent yesterday, and Nolan had a good game by Nolan standards.

I do think a midfield with a base of Nobes and Song is bloody strong and hopefully we'll see it again come Hull next week.
